Mobile Blood Donation Unit
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Vladislav Nikolov, founder of the “I Believe and Help” Charitable Campaign, officially handed over the keys to the first specialized mobile blood donation unit in Bulgaria to Dr. Zhanina Yordanova, Director of the Regional Center for Transfusion Hematology – Varna (Blood Center), in the presence of dozens of citizens and official guests.
The event was honored by His Eminence, Metropolitan Yoan of Varna and Veliki Preslav, who held a blessing service for health and consecrated the new vehicle. Among the official guests were Alexander Kamenski, representative of Silver Star Retail EAD, Varna office, and Mustafa Kadir, representative of the Turkish company EMS – one of the world’s leading firms in the conversion and transformation of specialized vehicles, which carried out the complete modification of the mobile unit. Also in attendance was Stanislava Alexandrova, a professional photographer who documented the entire production process of the vehicle in a full-length film, as well as staff from the RCTH – Varna, who had long dreamed of working with such a modern and highly functional mobile unit.
The vehicle allows for two people to donate blood simultaneously and will primarily serve the Varna region, with the capability to reach donors in other areas as needed.
Dr. Yordanova explained that over the past year, there has been an increase in voluntary blood donors, with an average of around 1,000 donations per month. The aim of the new, fully equipped “I Believe and Help” mobile blood donation unit is to significantly boost interest in voluntary blood donation across the country.
