The First Mobile Blood Donation Unit in Bulgaria
On October 14, 2023, in Sevastopol Square, in the heart of Varna, we organized the first open and public blood donation campaign using the newly launched and first-ever specialized mobile blood donation unit in Bulgaria, created under the name “I Believe and Help”. The unit was officially donated just a month earlier to the Regional Center for Transfusion Hematology – Varna.
The event attracted tremendous interest. Throughout the day, medical professionals from the RCTH – Varna were on site, collecting blood from passersby who chose to take part in this noble cause. Also present were Dr. Zhanina Yordanova, Director of RCTH – Varna, and Yana Paskova, Blood Donation Coordinator and Organizer, who answered numerous questions from attendees.
In parallel, a charity bazaar was held, where visitors could support the cause by purchasing souvenirs such as a “Mug with a cause” featuring the mobile blood donation unit, crafted by our friends at www.buhalmugs.com, “Water with a cause” by AQUA BELLA , as well as “Pretzels with a cause,” “Noodles with a cause,” and “Couscous with a cause” produced by PERUN, “Children’s Pretzels with a cause” and “Bread with a cause” under the brand Zlatna Dobrudzha by the company SAVIMEX , and many more meaningful items.
By the end of the campaign, we celebrated the participation of dozens of voluntary blood donors, many of whom donated blood for the first time. A total of BGN 3,003 was collected through the donation box during the event, and the entire amount will be used to support our ongoing causes.
